The Association for Childhood Education International and DiploFoundation hosted the first Education Diplomacy Day on 7 October 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. The event brought together educators, diplomats, representatives from international organizations, and others concerned with education issues and interested in approaches for sustainable solutions to complex human problems. Through panel presentations and discussions, the event raised awareness for education diplomacy and provided the opportunity to further develop the concept and practice. In the coming months, ACEI and Diplo will also work together to develop and run an online course on education diplomacy.
A Diplo blog post written by Katharina Höne provides an overview of the event.
You can find more information and the full agenda at the Diplo Foundation website.
Education Diplomacy Day in Your Location
Event days focused on topics of education diplomacy promote understanding of the concept and how it is relevant to the dynamic global education environment. An Education Diplomacy Day serves to build a cadre of education diplomats by expanding outreach to individuals and groups in the location where the event is held. Education diplomacy's ultimate impact is felt at the community level, and event days allow participants to make connections to their work locally.
